  1. 2 – 8 weeks. Maybe never.

  2. My step son has 3 more weeks at fort benning. In a week or so you will get a card with his mailing address, a week or so after you may start getting letters. Dont expect a phone call for a few weeks

  3. The Army tradition is to mail the family immediately upon settling in to let them know that they arrived safely. Perhaps the phone call went to his mother or guardian. I’m sure you’ll be receiving a letter soon. God bless your soldier.

  4. When my daughters best friend went to the Army we didn’t hear from her until after basic, which was I think 6 wks. I’m not sure if she got one phone call or not. If she did, I am sure she used it to call her parents but I think they had to wait to hear from her as well. I am pretty sure they can write letters but I am not positive about that.

  5. Contact his partents to see if they heard from them.
Contact the recuriter to find out where he is at.

Than go to the Red Cross they will find him.

  6. I was in the Army, and my husband is in the Army still. As soon as we got out of processing, which can be up to a week or even more, where they basically get all your info ready etc, you should get to where you will be training at, and they have you fill out alittle card giving you one address to mail it to that has your mailing address, We werent allowed to write anything else besides that. Within a few days I was mailing stuff out and I think by the 2nd week I made a phone call. My husband, who is in 1-9 CAV, an infantry division, didnt get a phone call till the end of his basic graduation, but he was able to write. Dont freak, believe me, he does wanna write and call, he just cant!!! I know exactly how he feels and how you feel. Good Luck!

  7. i went to basic at fort benning in october of 2003 and we were only allowed to use the phone once during thanksgiving. you can write to him whenever you like though. i wouldn’t expect a call anytime soon.

  8. we are aloud one phone call once we arrive and are in reception… so that one call might of gone to his family… he can send letters to you as soon as he can find time to write etc.

As far as phone calls go, I didn’t get the chance to make phone calls until my blue phase of basic…(red, white, blue phases)

  9. girl its time to get to the pen and paper…you won’t hear from him for a while, and even then its like 2 minutes….so get to writing, because for the next 9 wks. or so…you soldier is going to be so busy…and then he has AIT…which is quite a few more weeks….and since you are not use to not hearing from him…get use to it big time..especially since he is infantry…because after basic and AIT don’t be suprized when he has to head to iraq..We were stationed at Ft Stewart, Ga. for 4 years, and my hubby was gone half of that time to Iraq and NTC….don’t stress it will be okay…but be prepared…you can email me if you need more advise and such….

  10. Soldiers are required to make a phone call with in 72 hours of when they get to there Basic Training Company, and write a letter within the first 24 hours. It’s in the regs and it gets done, question is who will he call you or his family. That is when he starts Basic first thing he has to do is go to 30th AG the Infantry reception Battalion, he’ll be there about a week, if he’s there on a weekend he’ll probably get to use the phones on the weekend, the return address for 30th is not given to the privates because they are there for such a short period of time. Do not contact the Red Cross unless it’s an emergency, it’s not there to get your boyfriends address it is there to relay emergency information accurately and timely.

  11. haha ok his one phone call will be like 20 seconds long no joke and hell be at the 30th ag ( reception for at least 2 weeks)
just let him get down range.. theyll make him send something home the day or two after they get there.. im sure hell write asap.. i went there and if u have ever heard that song letters from home .. thats how it really is

  12. Stew has no idea about what he is talking about, soldiers are only at 30th AG Reception Bn for a week or less under normal circumstances, if he was there longer he was probably some sort of whiner that went on sick call or sniveled and tried to say he didn’t want to be there or give the Processors and Drill Sergeants a hard time. This time of year there is about 750-1500 soldiers that show up each week if it was no less then two weeks they would have more soldiers then beds in less then a week. Stew get a life and stop spreading rumors, and don’t go on sick call so much. A phone call is a phone call 20 seconds is better than nothing
