I wrote my bf everyday like he told me to do. The DI shouldnt be getting mad cuz they have every right to get a letter evryday if they could. I think you should cuz it helps him and my bf loved to hear how i was doing everyday.

Marines go to boot camp, not basic. He will be able to start writing soon. Make sure you write him often. I wrote letters nearly everyday to my husband. It depend on what training they are doing as to how much mail you will get back. They will take care of everything he needs, you just need to send very supportive letters! You should also start saving up to go to his graduation! Its a VERY big deal for them!

Don't expect to hear from a lot in the next few weeks. Yes, he will change a lot. He will have a lot more muscle and no fat. He will have grown in character so he will be a MAN, not a boy any longer.

Expect to be mauled by him as soon as he sees you.
But seriously, yeah, he'll have less hair and less facial hair, if he had those things to begin with.
He'll be more mature, and a little bit tougher. He might be a little bit more cocky and arrogant though.

I will do my Old Sargent routine normally reserved for worried mothers.
YOU are free to worry. You are not free to tell him that in your letters. He does not need that baggage.
He will look the same.
The dog will know him.
He will be a little taller than when he left, Marines do not slouch!!!
He will talk funny. You might think he has been hanging out with R Lee Ermey.
He will eat things you never thought he would. Brussels sprouts, broccoli and other such things become desirable after a 6 mile jog.
He will say "yes sir" and "no mam". You will then remember that old movie with "pod people" and wonder.
He may drop and do 20 to keep loose.
Don't worry it's all normal and he will still love you.

Well I am happy to hear that he decided to join the best military branch in the world. The link below is the training schedule for him so you can follow it and see what he is doing. He is definateley going to be different. In a good way. The Corps says give me the boy and I will return a man. What is his specialty? Well you arent gonna hear from him for about 2 weeks max. The first week is pick up week I mean admin and medical stuff all week until black friday. Black Friday is the day he joins his actual platoon and met is DIs. It sucks!! I still think about it and sometimes I say I wouldnt mind doing it again and other times I say the hell with that!! He will be waiting to be able to be with you every single day and he will miss you and need you. Your letters and support will help him alot. Dont worry about the DIs there just there to train recruits into Marines. The mail doesnt matter. Beleive me Ive been there and done that. Wish him lick and tell him he is well supported by the country and most of all by his fellow Marines (when he becomes one).

For starters: DO NOT send packages, or spritz perfume on your letters. He does not want to draw attention from his SDI.
Write to him every day, send him stamps and envelopes.
Mail call is a big thing for the recruits. It is their connection from home.
You will get your first letter in about two weeks. He wont' have much time to write, so don't take it personally. Continue to write him as much as you can, so he can feel your support and encouragement. It is tough.
