i believe the first night you are there they make you write to your families and such. he’ll have plenty of time to write to you adn everyone else. They generally aren’t allowed to have their phones on them for most of the duration of basic training. Depending on where he is and what his MOS is, they may let him use his phone on certain weekends (possibly on or close to holidays) for a short period of time.
Calls are only at appointed times, and will be brief. You’ll be sharing that time with his parents, siblings and other friends, so you might only get a couple (or no) calls.
He will have time to write, and will be encouraged to do so. Again, he’ll be dividing his time between you and many other people.
The most important thing is not for him to write you, but for you to write him. He desperately needs that contact, and wants his name called during mail call. So even if you don’t hear from him much/at all, write him as often as possible, even if it’s once every day.
my fiancee has been gone for 4 weeks now and i got a call right after he got there that lasted like 3 minutes and i have not gotten a call since but i do get letters i get 1 or 2 a week. just make sure you write him.. it helps his alot let him know what you did that day and just tell him how much you love him and miss him and tell him you are proud of him.. i write a letter to him every night. you can send pictures just not racy ones you dont want to get him in trouble….. Good Luck
They get time to call sometimes at night after training, maybe once a week, starting like the 2nd week. It just depends if he feels like waiting in line for the phones or if he has a phone card.

Yes, of course. Although, YOU should be the one to do most of the writing. ~_^
