Well, again, each to his own. Music is art, art is subjective. I think he’s a much more emotional playing than people are giving him credit for, but this is coming from a person who listens to metal as well, so maybe my standard is a bit off =P

Does speed really mean lack of emotions? To play a prepared piece, or fit in too many sweeps and tappings, maybe, but it seems to me that his emphasis was not really on speed, but it’s just it happens to be what he felt like playing at the time.

Disagree as you may, if I’m in for the technique, I’d look at some silly dragon-force-esque shredders, but I think he has the techniques and the emotion and soul as well. But I suppose that’s just what I got from the music.

Bob Zabek is awesome, I saw this video last year and I loved it but I like it less now due to the vibrato – too trmeoloey. It’s a word.
