Question by Another Creation Enduring: What’s the ultimate Mind game your spouse has ever played on you?
I heard a story about a guy that was having his 20-year high school reunion. On the Friday night meet and greet, he took his wife with him and she was completely bored. He understood and cut his visit with old friends short since she was bored and miserable.

The next evening was the main reunion event and the guy and his wife were not going to make most of it and arranged with the even planner to let them know if it was still occurring when they finished with another obligation they had.

The other obligation was a retirement party his grandmother was having. He felt obligated to go since it was family; his wife refused to go because it was his family and she didn’t much care for them (He asked her to go with him anyways and she refused). After the retirement party, his wife receives a text message stating that although most of the reunion even and guest were gone, he may be interested in coming for the socialization.

The guy asks his wife if she wanted to go and she replied, “No, I don’t know anyone and It’ll be boring. If you want to go, then go…I’ll be okay.”

He says to her, “I am torn, because there are a couple of guys I haven’t seen in years that I want to catch up with. But I really don’t feel right going without you. Please come with me.”

Again, she replies, “I don’t want to, but I know you do. Go ahead and have fun, I’ll be completely okay.”

He decides to go based upon her reassurance that it’s okay, however, 15-20 minutes after he arrives at the reunion, he receives a text message from his wife that states, “Given the chance, I knew what choice you would make. While you are out of town this week, I’ll be looking for a place to live.”

Now, this would NOT be strange if this guy made a habit of socializing with friends, or often left his wife at home alone. However, outside of being at work, this guy literally NEVER goes out without his wife.

Thoughts/Opinions?

Best answer:

Answer by Amanda Val
He expressed his feelings of being torn between old friends and his wife. My opinion is she over-reacted. He may never go out when he’s working, but that’s different to catching up with people you haven’t seen in years.

He has the right to see friends. She’s being possessive and playing mind games, trying to make him feel guilty about choosing one night out over her.

What do you think? Answer below!

Question by Sup Plicating: Sometimes do you fight the urge to agree with your spouse?
So, all the Christmas activities and family visitations left my wife extremely sad.

Last night she says to me, “I feel like your family is alienating you because of me. I think I’m a sick person because I can’t get along with anyone…Maybe I need to get some help?”

I fought the urge to agree with her in exuberance, instead I tried to keep her spirits happy and said, “Look, you can’t hold yourself responsible for decisions and actions others make.”

Would you have done/said differently?

Best answer:

Answer by Rowdy
I would have said,”Honey,if you think you need help we’ll get you some. I’ll be right here beside you all the way.”

Question by baron d: Did your spouse that left you, take unneccessary “jabs” at you after leaving?
My wife left me out of the blue, which is killing me.

I am not saying anything bad about her, she was my ideal woman, and I thought everything was going great.

Since she’s left she sends me emails taking “jabs” at me… I have a good job, but she says things like ” guys like you will always have to work for someone else, and will never be independant”.

It hurts because I’ve worked my way up into a supervisor position, make a good salary, am a home owner, own two cars, two dogs, have six weeks a year vacation, AND great hours ( Mon-Fri 8:30- 5:30) and all the holidays off.

I tell friends and family that tell me “you’ll find someone better” that she was the perfect girl, and have never said a bad thing about her. Why does she treat me like this…it’s like kicking a dying dog or something.

Best answer:

Answer by laceandcurls
No. After I left my ex-husband, he was the one being childish and making his “clever” remarks. I guess it must have been an ego thing with him.
