Question by antietamsong: can you help me identify this song i heard on college/indy radio?
the narrator in the song is a man who got very wealthy when his rich wife died and left him her money, which he then went out and used to buy politicians. i think it has the line “this land belongs to me” (and yes, i am aware of the biblical allusions…)
no, not Star Sailor, not “God’s Own Country,” but thanks for trying. It’s an acoustic song, kinda got a Steve Earle feel to it, with very dark, anti-establishment lyrics to it…

album: On The Outside (2005)
There’s a white light that carries me home
Helps me focus when I am alone
Keeps on teaching me how to be loved
And to love
And to love
Onwards to forever
Our minds belong together
She’s the good light that carries me on
Helps me focus on where I’ve gone wrong
Now you’ve reached me
Its time to forgive and forget
And forget
Onwards to forever
Our minds belong together
Onwards to forever
Our minds belong together
Tonight, this land
Belongs to me
The shifting sands
The shining seas
Onwards to forever
Our minds belong together
Onwards to forever
Our minds belong together
Tonight, this land
Belongs to me
The shifting sands
The shining seas
Won’t you help my soul to grow?
To heal, its all that I know
