Question by ~Kitty Kat~: How do I deal with racism?
I’m a 24 year old woman, who will be 25 soon and my boyfriend, he is a black man thats 15 years older then me, but age dosen’t matter…we love each other very much and have been dating and living together for 9 months now. And, here is the problem….ever since I started dating this man, my mothers boyfriend, he is against blacks because his ex wife left him for a black man, so he’s racist. He has said some nasty, horrible rotten things about me, like calling me “white trash” and calling my boyfriend a nigga behind his back. But, he apologized and has been descent for the past month and tonight I am staying over at my moms house, and her boyfriend said that “When a black man dates a white woman, it’s a prize to him and it bosts his image.” I didn’t say anything though, but I just don’t know why he started being racist again when he was being so descent before. How do I deal with this?

You can either confront him and tell him to keep his comments to himself, or you can ignore him for the ignorant, bitter, fool that he is. You’re unlikely to change his mind…he doesn’t hate backs because his wife left him for one…that would mean he’d hate whites if she’d left him for a white dude and I doubt that would’ve happened. In fact, why don’t you ask him about that…

  1. You accept the fact that your mother’s boyfriend is right.

  2. if you love this man and he loves you then skrew what everyone else thinks.. i am a product of a biracial couple and i am in a biracial relationship.. love is love and no matter who you date someone is going to have a problem with them

  3. Paint him white

  4. the best thing 2 do is 2 show him u dnt care. if u completly ignore him he will jst stop. nd how do u think it makes me feel wen ppl r saying stuff about obama cuz hes black. but race does not matter =]

  5. I can provide an answer to you but I know of someone who can.

she’s made a career of counseling those with questions such as this.

  6. tell him

“stop talking to me like that, i dont like it, and if you keep talking like that i dont care if your my moms boyfriend ill tell my BLACK boyfriend and tell him to bring his thug friends and then i want you to say that” “you got that straight?!”

tell him in a very confident way, trust me that will scare him silly.
i am a latino dude with like a similar problem, and just because we prefer women with a lighter skin tone means nothing.

    love is blind

  7. Once a racist, always a racist. Make your opinion of his views known to him and move on. Small-minded people will not change because it’s not their nature. Enjoy your relationship and leave your mother’s boyfriend to wallow in self-pity.

  8. Just ignore him. He is ignorant. Be yourself and date who you want to. Besides, he is your mother’s boyfriend, not your father. If he is so stupid as to say racist remarks, and talk down on someone, then he has bigger issues to deal with. Sounds to me he might be a little insecure.

  9. ignore him,. dont retaliate. just ignore him, and continue being nice. let his problem remain his problem and u keep your peace with you. the bible says that when we do good to those that persecute us we are heaping coals on their heads.

  10. u can shut up and ignore him or make noise and let him kno, he ain’t about to keep on wit his foolishness
