Question by Love_to_Fish: My wife is getting tired & cranky w/ me because I have been sick for about 3 weeks.?
I had a bad cold that got worse but so did everyone in the house. She went to the doctor, got medicine and after a few days she was up & about. Still not feeling good but working & cleaning again. She is mad at me because I still don’t feel good and have missed work for the past week. I have no leave left so I will not be paid for the time I am off. I have slept on the couch & now she is mad because she told me “get your a** to the bed & off the couch”. She says that by laying on the couch for the past 6 days & sleeping there I just keep making everyone else sick again plus she can’t clean in there. I don’t like sprays so I won’t let her dust, spray with Lysol, or sweep (the noise hurts my head). I don’t want the light turned on either. She gave me a choice of going to the doctor or back to work so I went to the doctor & they gave me medicine but she is still mad because I do nothing but lay on the couch & she wants me in the bed – I don’t see what difference it makes. Does it matter?

If you’re on the couch, you’re in shared territory. If you’re in your bed, you’re quarantined.

  1. I don’t think this is a “cold” from what you describe. Maybe it is the flu. Either way, viruses (cold and flu) don’t respond to meds. You should go to the doctor and let the woman spray with Lysol for God’s sake! It’s only fair to your family.

  2. you are in the public area of the house and reinfecting everyone in the family. Go to bed. Yes it does matter and let her spray the Lysol it kills the virus and bacteria you are spreading all over the place. She’s trying to clean up go to bed so she can. Here’s a thought….Maybe its just an allergy to the dust that is collecting around you and if you move you’ll feel better.

You’d get more sympathy if you were actually not acting like a spoiled child. If you were my husband I would send him back to work so I could get some peace.

  3. The living room is kind of the center of the household. It’s annoying to live life around someone camped out there. Go to bed!
