Question by Emma Locke: How do you deal with a guy who has issue’s even though you just got married and he still worries?
I just got married to my wonderful boyfriend he is everything I could want but has been damaged by his ex wife. They have a child together and he still blames himself for being blind while she cheated on him countless times.He tries his best to make sure I know how much he loves me and stuff but still he over does it and we usually wind up arguing because he either compares me to his ex wife or he’ll say something to the lines of,”Well that’s what she said and she left me.”Then he will cry,Don’t get me wrong I love him and I am being supportive and trying to be understanding but still she gets in the way due to their past. What do I do?

This guys isn’t over his first marriage. Why on earth would he get married again. Why would you marry a man who hasn’t worked through his divorce and let go of some of his baggage?
You’re 18.. in your last question, you weren’t married.. Would you please make up your mind?

that is what happens when you marry a guy with an ex wife. they are all f’d up.
Marriage counseling should help! You love him but he has all of these issues. He needs help and you need help to help him and yourself. Because before too long, you’ll feel like going to the looney bin yourself!
My (new) husband was married for 20+ years. He still says “we” meaning he and his ex when he talks about house purchases, old vacations, etc. I have to put a stop to it every time!
I say:
1. don’t compare me to your ex
2. don’t talk about your ex or other past relationships when you speak hypothetically about something that might happen
3. I’m nothing like your ex, so don’t mistake my actions for something she did to you
I have to say it again and again and insist on it. It doesn’t help anything and is actually quite RUDE and disrepsectful to you my dear!
You should not have to pay the price for crimes that you did not commit.
